After playing with Barbies, it will probably take a while to start liking girl dolls like AG's. Maybe you could give her an AG historical book to read, then she might start valuing the AG dolls. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I recently had an 8 going on 9 year old girl in my house who loved dolls. She only had Barbies, I think, and our families and very good friends but they are not as well off as us. She was looking at my doll collection and I asked her what her favorite doll was. If she had said Tess, Elizabeth, or maybe Kit I would have given her the doll. She said " I don't know" so I told her to think about it and she said I don't know about 3 more times so she went home without the doll. Oh well, myabe next time. [img]wink.gif[/img]

She may have liked them all so much she couldn't choose. Does one of the dolls look like her? Perhaps you could offer her one or try 'which of these three is your favorite." Sometimes kids are just overwhelmed and do better with fewer options.
Do you think she knew you were going to offer her one and she was embarrassed or uncomfortable about that?
